As with previous conferences, we aim to showcase the variety and diversity among graduate students of color, especially in our research and everyday lives. Moreover, we desire to demonstrate that diverse backgrounds and experiences allow for a more complete, well-rounded journey in higher education and training the leaders of tomorrow. For 20 years, we have been inviting students from across the Midwest and virtually all disciplines/fields to participate. We invite graduate students across the Midwest to submit abstracts and present their work.

Conference highlights include:

1) a keynote address by Northwestern faculty, Dr. Celeste Watkins-Hayes, Associate Professor of African-American Studies & Sociology, and the Director of Undergraduate Studies for the African-American Studies department

2) a State of the Unity Address given by UIC faculty Dr. Tyrone Forman, Associate Chancellor and Vice Provost of Diversity and Professor of African American Studies and Sociology

3) a networking lunch and happy hour networking with conference participants

4) professional development workshops, including a professional panel for discussing academia and other careers.

5) closing reception

All are welcome to attend and we look forward to seeing you there!
